Shoebridge calls for end to Ukraine military aid, US base removal

**Summary**

David Shoebridge, a new leader of Australia's Green Party, has made statements calling for an end to military aid to Ukraine and the removal of US military bases from Australian territory. Discussion centers on the Greens' foreign policy positions and their viability as a political force.

**Dominant Framings**

On Reddit, the primary framing treats Shoebridge's positions as emblematic of broader problems with the Greens' approach to defense and foreign policy. The highest-engagement post frames these positions as newsworthy statements from a new party leader. A secondary framing—present in one lower-engagement post—characterizes the Greens' foreign policy stances as fundamentally flawed, suggesting the party should focus on other issues where it has more credibility.

**Notable Disagreement**

Discussion is sparse and one-sided. The single critical post received minimal engagement (6 points, 1 comment), while the main news post generated substantive discussion (79 points, 188 comments). No counterarguments defending the Greens' foreign policy positions appear in the top posts, and no users explicitly defend the calls for ending Ukraine aid or removing US bases. The limited engagement overall suggests this story has not generated sustained or polarized debate on Reddit, despite touching on geopolitical questions that typically invite disagreement.
